PUTRAJAYA, 15 March 2025 – The World Silat Federation (WSF), under the leadership of Dr. Mohamad Nizam Shapie, marked a significant milestone this month by announcing seven global achievements that have elevated Silat Malaysia as a respected martial art on the international stage.
Founded to globalise Silat Melayu, WSF has grown into a dynamic platform connecting Silat communities across continents. Its achievements reflect years of strategic diplomacy, cultural exchange, and academic collaboration.
7 Global Achievements of WSF:
- International Membership Expansion – WSF now includes member organisations from over 20 countries, including Poland, Korea, France, Algeria, and the Philippines.
- UNESCO ICM Partnership – WSF continues to work closely with UNESCO’s International Centre of Martial Arts, contributing to global martial arts education and heritage preservation.
- Silat Tempur Internationalisation – WSF has introduced Silat Tempur to youth programmes in Southeast Asia and Europe, promoting safe combat sports for children.
- Academic Recognition – Silat Malaysia is now featured in international conferences such as IMACSSS and ACPES, with research led by Dr. Nizam gaining global citations.
- Global Coaching Certification – WSF launched the International Silat Coaching Manual, standardising training for instructors worldwide.
- Cultural Diplomacy Events – WSF has organised Silat showcases in global festivals, including martial arts galas in Poland, Korea, and Italy.
- Digital Outreach and E-Learning – WSF’s online platforms now offer Silat courses and resources, making Silat accessible to global learners.
