PASSMAL Silat leadership and cultural mission

About PASSMAL

PASSMAL, short for The Malaysian Organization of Authentic Malay Silat Arts, is a national body dedicated to the preservation, education, and international recognition of Silat Melayu — Malaysia’s indigenous martial art of heritage, identity, and discipline.

Founded by a group of certified Silat masters, scholars, and cultural advocates, PASSMAL champions the authentic practice of Silat Melayu through structured coaching, certified training, community outreach, and academic research. Our vision is to safeguard Silat not only as a traditional self-defense system but as a holistic knowledge system embedded in adab (ethics), budaya (culture), and warisan (legacy).

We collaborate with national institutions like Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) and international partners such as UNESCO ICM and IMACSSS to position Silat as a living heritage in the global martial arts community. PASSMAL is also the key body supporting AIRBORNE, the Martial Arts and Combat Sports Research Network, which advances scientific research in traditional martial disciplines.

Our Core Focus

  • Preservation of traditional Silat forms and rituals
  • Standardized curriculum development and Silat certification
  • Academic research and cultural diplomacy
  • Training the next generation of Silat coaches and practitioners

Whether you’re a student, coach, researcher, or heritage enthusiast — PASSMAL welcomes you to join our journey of empowerment, tradition, and excellence through Silat Melayu.
