In recognition of his outstanding contributions to sports science and the preservation of Malay martial arts, Dr. Mohamad Nizam Mohamed Shapie has been officially invited as a distinguished speaker at MOHE 2025, a prestigious event organized by the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia.

This invitation marks another milestone in Dr. Nizam’s illustrious career, reflecting his unwavering commitment to academic excellence and cultural innovation. As the General Manager of PASSMAL and a leading figure in Silat Melayu modernization, Dr. Nizam has consistently bridged the gap between tradition and contemporary research.

At MOHE 2025, Dr. Nizam is expected to share insights from his decade-long journey in developing Silat-based educational and competitive models. His presentation will highlight three key innovations: Silat For Beginners, Silat Tempur, and Silat EVO—all of which have gained national and international attention for their impact on youth development, sports education, and cultural diplomacy.

His session will also delve into the integration of sports science into traditional martial arts, showcasing how biomechanics, coaching methodologies, and digital platforms can elevate heritage practices into modern frameworks. Dr. Nizam’s work exemplifies how academia can play a transformative role in preserving and promoting indigenous knowledge systems.

The MOHE 2025 conference gathers thought leaders, educators, and policymakers to discuss the future of higher education in Malaysia. Dr. Nizam’s inclusion as an invited speaker not only celebrates his achievements but also positions Silat Melayu as a valuable academic and cultural asset within the national education agenda.

This recognition follows a series of accolades Dr. Nizam received in 2025, including the Best Paper Oral Presentation Award at ACPES in the Philippines and his leadership in the iMAN25 innovation competition, where he showcased Silat-based products that blend heritage with innovation.

As Malaysia continues to champion its cultural identity on the global stage, voices like Dr. Nizam’s are essential in shaping narratives that honour the past while embracing the future. His participation in MOHE 2025 is a testament to the power of knowledge, tradition, and vision.
