Purpose of the Study:
To analyze and compare the activity profiles and action outcomes between winners and losers among female Silat Olahraga exponents during the 2017 Southeast Asian (SEA) Games.
Key Findings:
- Most Common Actions:
- Kicks (51% of total actions), followed by punches and sweeps.
- Lower limbs were predominantly used for attacking.
- Performance Differences:
- Winners performed more successful actions (Hit Target – HT) and fewer missed actions (Missing Opponent – MO) than losers.
- Significant differences found in:
- Evade/Dodge actions (p = 0.03)
- Hit Target outcomes (p = 0.000)
- Missing Opponent outcomes (p = 0.025)
- Accuracy Over Quantity:
- Losers performed more kicks and punches but had lower accuracy.
- Winners focused on precision rather than volume of actions.
Practical Implications:
- For Competitions:
- Emphasize accuracy and timing over sheer number of attacks.
- Defensive skills like evade/dodge are critical for success.
- For Organizations (if not used for competition):
- Use findings to develop technical training modules focusing on precision.
- Inform talent development and performance analysis frameworks.
- Support video-based notational analysis for athlete feedback and coaching.
Tips for Application:
Athletes:
- Prioritize targeted strikes and defensive agility.
- Train to improve evade/dodge techniques and lower limb coordination.
Parents:
- Encourage athletes to focus on the quality of execution rather than the quantity.
- Support training that includes video analysis and feedback sessions.
Coaches:
- Integrate notational analysis tools (e.g., Nacsport Elite) in training.
- Focus on evade/dodge drills, target accuracy, and tactical awareness.
- Provide individualized feedback based on match performance data.
