In today’s fast-paced and often challenging world, youth face increasing pressures—from academic stress to social media influence, and even bullying. Recognising this, PASSMAL has developed Silat EVO not just as a sport, but as a platform for youth empowerment. Silat EVO is a modernised combat sport rooted in Silat Melayu, designed to help young people build confidence, discipline, and emotional resilience.
Unlike traditional martial arts that focus solely on physical techniques, Silat EVO integrates psychomotor, affective, and cognitive development. Young practitioners learn how to move, think, and feel with purpose. They are trained not only to defend themselves physically, but also to manage emotions, respect others, and make thoughtful decisions.
One of the most impactful aspects of Silat EVO is its role in anti-bullying education. During M-MAF2025, PASSMAL collaborated with the Ministry of Education (KPM) to launch an Anti-Bullying Youth Programme. Silat EVO was showcased as a tool to help students stand up against bullying—not through violence, but through self-confidence and peer leadership.
Silat EVO teaches youth that strength is not about overpowering others—it’s about mastering oneself. Through structured sparring, scoring systems, and ethical coaching, students learn to channel their energy positively. They develop a sense of belonging, purpose, and pride in their cultural heritage.
The programme also aligns with the 6Cs of Positive Youth Development:
- Competence – mastering Silat techniques and strategies
- Confidence – believing in one’s ability to grow and lead
- Character – upholding respect, humility, and discipline
- Connection – building friendships and team spirit
- Caring – showing empathy and compassion
- Contribution – giving back to the community through Silat
Silat EVO is inclusive and adaptable. Whether in schools, youth clubs, or community centres, it can be taught safely and effectively. PASSMAL’s certified coaches follow the SSM2050 curriculum, endorsed by UiTM, ensuring quality instruction and holistic development.
In a world where youth are often seen as vulnerable, Silat EVO flips the narrative. It sees young people as assets, not problems. It helps them discover their strengths, overcome challenges, and become leaders in their own right.
Silat EVO is more than a sport—it’s a movement for youth empowerment, cultural pride, and social change.
