Silat Malaysia Curriculum by WSF Sets New Global Standard

SHAH ALAM, 5 May 2025 – The World Silat Federation (WSF), in collaboration with PASSMAL, officially launched the Silat Malaysia Curriculum 2025–2030, marking a major milestone in the global standardisation of Silat education.

Led by Dr. Mohamad Nizam Shapie, the curriculum introduces a structured pathway for Silat learners from beginner to elite levels, integrating traditional Silat Melayu values with modern sports science and coaching methodology.

6 Key Features of the Silat Malaysia Curriculum by WSF:

  1. Level-Based Progression – Clear stages from novice to advanced, with belt systems and performance benchmarks.
  2. Scientific Training Modules – Incorporates biomechanics, plyometrics, and psychological profiling for athlete development.
  3. Silat Tempur Integration – Includes modules tailored for children, promoting safe and engaging combat sports.
  4. Coach Certification Pathways – Offers international coaching manuals and assessments for instructors.
  5. Cultural Preservation – Embeds Malay rituals, ethics, and philosophy into every training level.
  6. Global Adaptability – Designed for implementation in schools, universities, and martial arts academies worldwide.

“This curriculum is our blueprint for the future of Silat Malaysia. It’s not just about fighting—it’s about education, culture, and excellence,” said Dr. Nizam during the launch ceremony at UiTM.

The curriculum has already attracted interest from institutions in Poland, Korea, and the Philippines, with pilot programmes scheduled to begin in the second half of 2025.
